Message "domestic amature" is an armchair mechanic that knows very little about the cost and difficulty of adapting a transmission to an engine/chassis combination that it wasn't designed for. So it's easy for him to say "this is lighter," or "that would be enough" because after dispensing his knowledge he can crack open another beer and get back to watching NASCAR on TV.

The TH350, with all the aftermarket bells and whistles, will put up with about 700HP. Since a TH350 shares the same pump bolt pattern as a TH400, my bellhousing adapter will work with it but the crossmember, speedometer, and dipstick/filltube will all be DYI.

A 4L60E, fully built, is also limited to around 700HP. With no bellhousing adapter, in the end everything will be a custom one-off which will drive the cost up substantially. Not much of an upgrade in my opinion - certainly not enough to justify the cost of the entire conversion.
